Jaisalmer is a land of mystique, valor and royalty and one of its star attractions are the splendid Haveli’s and Mansions exhibiting unparalleled beauty. The Patwon-ki- Haveli is one such destination, counted amongst Jaislamer’s most beautiful and highly frequented Mansions. Constructed by five brothers of Jain religion, the Haveli came into existence between 1800 and 1860 and is now one of the prominent Jaisalmer attractions.

Its chief attraction comprises of exquisite mirror work adorning the walls and ceilings apart from the frescos and exclusive paintings from the bygone era. Overall, the mansion is divided into five distinct units, one of which was so richly endowed with decorative artifacts and antique furniture that it has now been turned into a museum- showcasing its treasure and leaving the visitors spellbound. The second and fifth haveli’s are monitored and managed by the government and the visitors may visit the ground floor of the second Haveli.

Apart from witnessing the master skills and artistry, visitors are at leisure to indulge in shopping for rich and traditional art & craft work of the local craftsmen. This is because the third Haveli is a shop exhibiting the best of buys from the ancient period. The last section of the haveli is still used for residential purposes and is not available for public view.

Overall, the Patwon-ki- Haveli is an ode to the unique architectural skills during Jaisalmer’s traditional times. The splendid monument enhances the old charm and grandeur of the town. It is normal to see numerous tourists from round the globe entering into the monument in groups, and leaving with a sense of awe and reverence for the grand architecture.
