Tourist Attraction -Jaisalmer fortAlso known as Sonar Kila, Jaisalmer Fort is regarded as ‘The Pride of Jaisalmer’. The majestic monument is poetry crafted from yellow sandstone, seamlessly blending with the Thar Desert, reflecting the barren land all around through its mammoth walls. Adorned with features that makes it the most dominant and well known structure in Jaisalmer.

The hotel rises like a mirage from the desert, with its huge turrets kissing the sky. Constructed in 1156, Jaisalmer Fort is now the second oldest fort dotting the historical landscape of Rajasthan, next only to Chittourgarh Fort. A 30 feet wall surrounds the fort, making it virtually impenetrable from outside. Within the massive wall lies the fort-a reinforcing 250 feet tall edifice. Overall, the imposing structure is built upon a triangular Trikuta hilltop. The 99 bastions present a formidable view, much like the superlative décor of the fort.

A very famous story hovering on the border of mythology and historical legend surrounds Jaisalmer Fort. According to local belief - when Maharaja Jaisal laid its foundation atop an embankment, it fulfilled the prophecy by Lord Krishna made during Mahabharata about one of the ancestor establishing a capital atop a hill.
