The Folklore Museum of Jaisalmer is renowned for its rich collection of art, souvenirs and artifacts, so much so that a trip to Jaisalmer without visiting the museum is considered incomplete. Folklore Museum is located on the bank of picturesque Gadsisar Lake. A comparatively recent addition to the list of attraction in Jaisalmer, the museum was founded in the year of 1984 by NK Sharma-an avid admired and collector of old coins, paintings, manuscripts and articles. Folklore is divided into six sections housing historical costumes, photographs, horse and camel ornaments, fossils, and jewelry. An interesting and detailed tour of the museum allows you to grasp and fully appreciate the gradual evolution of the Jaisalmer city, its historical significance and its own unique legacy.
