Jawahar Niwas Palace inherits a legacy like none other, a mythology so supreme that it sets the palace apart from the rest. According to legends, when in the year 1156, Maharawal Jaisalsinghji established a bastion atop the Trikuta hill region; he graciously fulfilled the prophecy foretold by Lord Sri Krishna himself thousands of years ago about a kingdom being established atop a hill by one of the descendents. Within the premises, Jawahar Niwas saw its birth in 1899 followed by final touch given by 39th and 40th rulers of Jaisalmer. The legendary palace now stands amidst the golden deserts of Jaisalmer as one of its famous landmarks. Royalty is apparent through every nook and corner of the palace, with its wealth of intricately carved Chattris and Jharokhas a testimony to craftsmanship of Rajput architecture.
