Lodurva is a historical town in Jaisalmer known for its deep cultural roots, historical monuments and Rajput legacy. Once a flourishing city, Lodurva was ruled by Bhatti Rajputs as their capital and later lost much of its sheen when the rulers shifted to Jaisalmer. The Jain temples and the peacock dance amidst the ruins is what attract hundreds of tourists to the place.
Built from yellow sandstone- the Jain temples still exhibit their old glory. The walls are adorned with pictures of Lord Parsvanath, the 23rd Jain Tirthankar. The extensive and splendid Jaali works are much marveled upon by the awestruck visitors. The Dilwara style architecture is apparent in the dominating arch in the main shrine.
Arguably the oldest tourist attraction in Jaisalmer, the temples is situated at the heart of the town. A testimony to the authority of Bhatti Rajputs, it is located at a distance of 15 km from Jaisalmer. The sight of peacocks dancing and swaying around the complex is mesmerizing indeed.
Lodurva temple complex are and ideal destination to admire the intricate carvings and artistic beauty on display. A must visit for anyone visiting Jaisalmer.
